Administration Assistant (part time) – Education Team
Burford, 960 hours on a fixed term contract start date March to December 2020

We are one of the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. Our Education team have a very important role teaching young people in schools and youth groups about the importance of pet welfare. Our team of Education officers and volunteer speakers around the UK deliver free talks teaching children aged 3 upwards about the needs of pets and how to be safe around dogs.

What is the role?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our team to provide a first-class administration service. You will be responsible for allocating talks to our team of speakers, taking school enquiries and supporting the marketing of our Education programme.

With strong organisational skills and experience in providing administration support, you’ll deal with customers so excellent customer service skills are essential. You will be adept at answering email and phone enquiries, monitoring and maintaining records, liaising within the team and providing administrative support. You’ll keep in touch with our remote Education officers and volunteers, so you need to be able to work proactively and independently to ensure the smooth running of the Programme.

This role is offered on an annualised hours contract basis working 960 hours, with hours of work averaging 30 per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be needed, however, as during school term times you will be required to work more hours per week, with less hours worked outside of term time.

What is required?

We are looking for people with the following:
• GCSE English and maths or equivalent
• A good understanding of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
• Excellent interpersonal and customer skills
• Experience of monitoring and maintaining records
• Excellent organisation skills, ability to multi task and prioritise

It would also be great if you had:
• Volunteer management experience
• To understand the needs of the curriculum
• Maintaining and recording information
