Rehoming Centre Manager, Sheffield Rehoming & Advice Unit
Permanent, full time

What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a team to deliver our agile range of rehoming services at our Rehoming & Advice Unit in Sheffield. We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic individual, who can see possibilities in different ways of helping pets. The Rehoming & Advice Unit is now firmly established and part of the local community, and we are currently looking for a manager to develop it further to expand our services and impact. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to improving the lives of pets and people, and has experience of managing a team.

This role will suit someone who can see possibilities and opportunities, and develop creative solutions. The role is varied and will need someone who actively enjoys working with people as much as helping pets. We are looking for an inspiring leader who enjoys coaching and developing the team and can support them to build and maintain resilience in difficult times.

A sound knowledge of companion animals is needed and knowledge of up to date behaviour theory is an advantage. Whilst the unit does not have facilities for overnight animal accommodation, the welfare of pets under our care is paramount, and the role requires management of external kenneling and foster carers to ensure our welfare standards are met.

This is a challenging role which provides opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of pets. There will be tough days too but being able to see the bigger picture and approach the work with purpose will make this role rewarding.

If you think you have what it takes and are looking for an exciting role that makes a difference, then we would love to hear from you

The standard hours are 42 hours per week on a locally agreed rota which will include weekends and bank holidays.

What is required?
We are looking for people with the following:
• Demonstrable experience of pet assessment, handling and husbandry
• Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a team in a pet rehoming environment
• Delivering high standards of customer care
• Full manual driving licence
• GCSE English and mathematics or equivalent
• Managing Health and Safety, including risk assessments and COSHH

It would also be great if you had:
• Proven ability to develop and deliver operational strategy
• Experience of managing income and expenditure budgets
• A recognised management qualification
• Previous experience of managing volunteers

Suitable candidates will be offered an interview on 27/11/19 at the Rehoming & Advice Unit at Sheffield which also provides an opportunity to find out more about the role and view the unit. Following this, we will then invite shortlisted candidates to attend assessment day on 11/12/19 for the second part of the selection process.

To apply for this role, all candidates must complete the online application process.
