Blue Cross supports sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. Our animal hospital in Grimsby is in a fantastic location, 15 minutes from the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds and beaches with low cost standard of living including housing. Blue Cross hospital Grimsby provides veterinary treatment for pets of clients whose financial circumstances do not allow them to afford private veterinary fees. The range of work carried out is the same to that in private practice, we pride ourselves on offering an excellent, round the clock level of care to our patients and their owners. Our facilities including digital X-Ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors , infusion pumps, bear huggers, large inpatients facilities with separate cat, dog, small animal and isolation wards. We hold monthly clinical governance discussions and have developed an award-winning set of clinical guidelines to assist our vets in decision making. High standards are important to us and so is the ability to discuss cases openly where lessons have been learnt, within a safe, non-judgmental environment.

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with a caring attitude to animals and owners and the ability to communicate well with colleagues and clients.

Our hospital sees a high caseload of emergency and critical care cases, both surgical and medical, so it is desirable that you have some small animal experience. The role will be on a shared OOH rota with sole charge required for night and weekend shifts with time off in lieu like for like on a rolling rota. On average you will work 40 hours per week.

What is required?

We are looking for people with the following:
• Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

It would also be great if you have:
• UK small animal or mixed practice experience
• UK driving licence
• Experience in small animal surgery and consultations
• Confidence to work sole in charge

Salary: £37,130 - £56,870 per annum FTE dependent on experience plus £2,500 Recruitment Allowance per annum.
